The Miracle in the desert

That was the name given to Emirates Golf Club when it became the first all-grass championship golf course in the Gulf region, way back in 1988.

And so it remains to this day, even though many have followed in its footsteps. His Highness General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s brainchild still inspires awe amongst all who play its verdant green golf courses, as well as those who simply visit its unique and ageless clubhouse.

The Club sports two championship golf courses, extensive recreational facilities and fine dining - enough to satisfy the most discerning of visitors.

Majlis Course

The original home of the Dubai Desert Classic and the flagship course of Emirates Golf Club, The Majlis Championship course is a challenging par 72, 7211-yard course. Sculptured around the original tall desert dunes in 1987, The Majlis was the first grass course in the Middle East and takes its name from the Arabic for ‘meeting place’. Indeed, one of the most prominent features on the course is the Majlis building itself, positioned between the 8th and 9th holes.

The 8th hole, a par 4 dogleg is The Majlis most unusual hole. Stroke index 3 and playing a full 434 yards, it has the unusual distinction of playing up-hill and requires a long, well directed drive to leave a reasonable second shot to its well protected green.

Dubai Creek Golf Club

Running alongside the stretch of water from which it takes its name, Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club is an 18-hole golf resort and is a true golfers’ paradise, which in November 2005 was voted one of the top 100 must play golf courses in the world by UK magazine Golf World.

The club's par 71 championship course, which has twice hosted the Dubai Desert Classic (1999 and 2000), offers a real challenge to every level of golfer. Recently redesigned by European Golf Design in association with Thomas Björn, the course rolls 6,857 undulating yards along well-groomed fairways lined with palms, attractive water hazards and shrubbery that lend a distinctly tropical and secluded air, despite its city centre location.

The resort incorporates a floodlit 9 hole Par 3 course and driving range, hi-tech swing analysis studio and extensive short game practice facilities, in addition to the 225 bedroom Park Hyatt Dubai, 92 four-bedroom villas, a 121 berth marina, yacht clubhouse, six award-winning restaurants and main golf clubhouse.

The PGA European Tour Desert Classic venue for 1999 and 2000, Dubai Creek is the spectacular 18-hole championship course that runs alongside the salt water inlet that gives Dubai much of it's character.

In addition there are internal lakes and tropical foliage that give the course a secluded feel despite it's location being in the heart of Dubai.

Renowned for it's well groomed fairways and greens, the golf course presents a stern challenge from the tournament tees but is suitable for all levels from the forward, friendlier tee locations.

Nad Al Sheba Club

Offering the only fully floodlit 18-hole course in the Middle East, Nad Al Sheba Club provides a truly unique experience for all visitors. visitors are rewarded with lush, rolling fairways and gently undulating greens, but wayward players may need to watch out for the nine course lakes (which come in to play on 15 of the 18 holes) and plentiful bunkers.
